Be Your Own Kind of Happy

Be Your Own Kind of Happy

Profound thoughts come to mind in the weirdest of times, and many of you may agree. Well, this is one of those times. I am going to share my insight with you so bear with me, okay?

Recently, I heard someone say that a lifetime is made up of moments. The phrase was in a movie I was looking at. These words truly hit me to the core because they were true and reflected my own life these days. Over the last 4 to 5 years, I felt like I had a personal epiphany. Prior to that, I was living life in a hamster wheel, spinning, and doing other people’s bidding, and not paying attention to myself and what I wanted. I wanted to experience greater freedom, greater happiness, and more meaningful time with my family. Every moment then became more intentional and significant.

“Happiness depends upon ourselves.”

Aristotle

Friends tell me that I always post pictures as if to tell me that they are too much. Frankly, I do not care what others think anymore; I used to. They simply do not understand my reasoning when I say that my life is about the moments. I create them and immortalize them in photos. I do this for me, my children, and their children to come; therefore, I make no apologies for filling my social media feed with happy moments, positive vibes, and inspiration.

We wait and wait and wait and wait…hoping to find true happiness, when in fact it is up to you and me to create the moments that will be remembered in our lifetime and beyond.

Can you imagine going through an entire lifetime of searching for happiness and in the end, still have not found it? That, to me, would be extremely sad. I want to know that when I face my sunset, I did the things I wanted to do; that I found joy in this life, and that I left memories that my family can look back on fondly.

So, my dear friends, “Stop waiting for Friday, for summer, for someone to fall in love with you, for life. Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and make the most of the moment you are in now.” Anonymous
