Affirmations help to inspire positive mindsets and boost self-confidence. Saying or making daily affirmations is a practice that must be adopted to achieve the positivity, self-confidence, and happiness that you are seeking.

Affirmations are positive statements that can be said orally or written down and have positive benefits for the person that actually engages in this practice. I usually begin my morning by writing a short affirmation in my daily journal before I list out my tasks for the day, and my day is more productive and definitely less stressful.

Here are some reasons why morning affirmations are necessary and important for a peaceful, productive day, and why you should give them a try.

Morning Affirmations Reduce Self-Sabotage

“Dont be a victim of your thoughts.” Darlene Lancer

Let’s face it, we can be our own worst enemy. Think of the countless times you find yourself saying things like, “I can’t write that article; it will be garbage”, “I am too fat; people will make fun of me if I wear that outfit”, “I will fail the exam today”, “I can never be as good as them”.

It is time to get past this type of language. This is all negative self-talk and can sabotage your day. This is a barrier that you can remove by just replacing it with positive self-talk or affirmations.

Every morning, write down something positive about yourself. Look in the mirror and say it out loud. What you say, you eventually begin to believe. Do not let your negative thoughts keep you a prisoner within yourself. Allow yourself to have a peaceful day free of the negativity that can weigh you down.

Morning Affirmations Increase Your Feelings of Happiness

If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” Roald Dhal

Yes, positive affirmations bring out happiness in you. Your mood changes and this is reflected throughout the day in your interactions.

Your thoughts will be happy thoughts. You will smile more. You will feel less stressed and bogged down by what other people say or do. As the saying goes, “Don’t let anyone steal your joy”, and I will add, “Create your own joy”.

When your mind is in a happy space, you will get more done and feel more productive. By contrast, when you are depressed, you are less likely to get tasks done. In fact, your mind will be in a dark place, your mood will be dark and you will experience lethargy and a lack of will.

Therefore, to be more productive in the day, focus on doing positive morning affirmations.

Morning Affirmations Drive You to Accomplish Your Goals

“Press forward. Do not stop, do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark set before you.” — George Whitefield

If you are a person that sets short-term and long-term goals, then practicing morning affirmations is a sure way to keep you motivated.

Morning affirmations give you the confidence and the drive to keep you on the path to accomplishing your goals. It is easy to get railroaded along the way and lose focus on the things you want to do.

Affirmations are a form of visualizations that eventually manifest themselves in reality. I once had a student who was failing miserably at Math and wanted very badly to attend the school of her dreams. Her mom showed me the affirmations that my student had written everywhere around the house. She posted the one affirmation everywhere and said it every single day until she achieved it.

Her transformation in class was encouraging and beautiful. By writing down and visualizing her goal as an affirmation, she became self-motivated. You can do this as well. It works.

Examples of Positive Affirmations

Some examples of positive affirmations you can use are:

  • I believe in myself, I trust that I have the confidence to do anything.
  • I am beautiful just the way I am.
  • I am smart and can do anything I set my mind to.
  • I accept others for who they are.
  • I make a difference in this world.

Try writing some of your own and aim to make morning affirmations a part of your daily routine.
